The Netherlands - Living

Students

The Netherlands is the most popular country after Austria for Germans studying abroad.1 As in Germany, there are universities and University of Applied Sciences. The Bachelor course takes three years at the University and four years at the University of Applied Sciences, while Masters take one or two years.

Many studies are offered in English. In some cities, there is even the possibility to study in German.

Unlike Germany, there are tuition fees in the Netherlands. This amount to about 2000 € per year. The individual fees can be viewed at the respective education institutes.

One reason why the Netherlands is so popular for German students is that - there is no numerus clausus here. For some very popular studies, students are chosen by lots.
